Minta Hikmat Kebijaksanaan Daripada TUHAN Allah

"Jika"?

Yesus Tidak Akan Menolak Mereka Yang Datang Kepada-Nya

Datang!

Jangan Takut, Yang Menyertai Kita Lebih Ramai!

Jika Engkau Mencari Hadirat TUHAN, Dia Akan Berkenan Ditemukan Olehmu

Kita memerlukan TUHAN Allah.

Carilah Dia.

God Is Not Looking for More Stars

If you do it because no one else will, it's a job. If you're doing it to serve the Lord, it's a ministry.

If you do it just enough to get by, it's a job. If you do it to the best of your ability, it's a ministry.

If you quit because someone criticized you, it was a job. If you keep serving, it's a ministry.

If you quit because no one praised you, it was a job. If you do it because you think it needs to be done, it's a ministry.

Are you merely doing a job or serving God in the ministry?

Children Are Watching YOU!

I was sitting with a group of mothers in the kitchen during my cousin's wedding. I got to get away from the heavy noises and went for a coffee. I overheard one of the mothers said, "I don't know how to tell my daughter to stop playing with her phone and study for the exam." And then I observe, she always holding her phone while complaining about her daughter. It's like an alcoholic father telling his son to be a good man. How irony.

"There is nothing more influential in a child's life than the moral power of a quiet example," reminds William J. Bennett. "For children to take morality seriously, they must see adults who take morality seriously" ⚡ #ServeToLead #LeadingByExample #ChildrenDoWhatChildrenSee

Why Does God Let Us Get Old and Weak?

A woman who was facing the difficulties of aging asked Bible teacher J. Robertson McQuilkin, "Why does God let us get old and weak?" He replied:

“I think God has planned the strength and beauty of youth to be physical. But the strength and beauty of old age are spiritual. We gradually lose the strength and beauty that is temporary, so we’ll be sure to concentrate on the strength and beauty which is forever. And so we'll be eager to leave the temporary, deteriorating part of us and be truly homesick for our eternal home. If we stayed young and strong and beautiful, we might never want to leave."

Are you just grow old or are you also getting more godly? Is your growing old making you any closer to Christ?

Prayer Is Putting Myself In a Position Where God Can Control Me

A parable is told of two men who planted olive trees in their fields. Afterward, the one prayed, "Dear Lord, my trees need water. Please sent rain." The showers came! He then prayed again, "They need sunshine," and God bathed them with sunlight! Later he prayed again, "Father, my trees need something to make them hardy. Please send a frost tonight." It came but killed them all.

Traveling over to the other man's grove, he found his olive trees flourishing, "How can this be?" he asked. The reply came, "When I prayed, I didn't ask for rain, sunshine, or frost; I just said, 'Lord, you made these trees. You know what they need. Just send what is best!'"  #ServeToLead #PreachTheWord #ThePrayingLeader #SpiritualGrowth

If It Isn't True, Forget It, and Go On and Serve the Lord

Not all criticism is wrong. Sometimes, if we let go of our ego (hard, right?), it can be a great lesson in life. If it's true, you have the chance to improve yourself. It is our responsibility to amend our mistakes and sins. For the Lord's sake. If it's half-true, perhaps you need to see the bigger picture or delay your response, for the one who pointed it out to you might be misunderstood.

If it's false in your good conscience, then do what H.A. Ironside said: "forget it and go on serve the Lord." Nobody who serves the Lord wholeheartedly will be immune to criticism. Therefore, don't let it discourage you - rejoice! - and don't take matters into your own hands. Romans 12:19 reminds, "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord'"  #ServeToLead #PreachTheWord #GoOnServeTheLord

Don't Stop Walking with God

"When the feast was ended, as [Joseph and Mary] were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the group they went a day's journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him"
 (Luke 2:43-45)

We must not be ignorant about our relationship with God and don't take it for granted that we are in touch with Him. As J. Oswald Sanders commented on the passage above: "Joseph and Mary lost a whole day of fellowship with Jesus because they 'supposing him to be in the group.' They took for granted something of which they should have made sure." Are you still in touch with God? Or are you have stopped walking with God and don't know it? ‍♂️ #ServeToLead #PreachTheWord

Jaga Diri Sendiri Daripada Ketamakan

Jesus Is the Light of the World

A preacher was preaching one Sunday evening when the lights in his small church suddenly flickered and went out. He stood quietly in the darkness, not knowing what to do or say.

Finally, an older deacon in the congregation called out, "Preach on, preacher, we can still see Jesus in the dark!"  #ServeToLead #PreachTheWord #JesusIsTheLight

The Word of God Will Stand Forever

"Read the Bible not as a newspaper but as a letter from home," reminds F. B. Meyer, pastor, evangelist, and Bible commentary writer. "If a promise lies on the page as a blank check, cash it. This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn To See (2018) by Seth Godin, Audiobook Review

This is Marketing: You Can’t Be Seen Until You Learn To See (2018)
by Seth Godin, Audiobook

 What is marketing? According to Seth Godin: "If you need to persuade someone to take action, you’re doing marketing." Asking you to donate to charity is as much as marketing as asking you to buy a product for charity. If you are taking a selfie for your social media or showing off your stuff on Instagram, you're marketing. I write this review and using hashtag #1Book1Week is marketing because one of the reasons (other than selfish one) is I want to persuade you to read books through my page. We all involve in marking either you realize it or not. The questions are: Are you a good or bad marketer? Do you want to genuinely serve others or just want their money? Do you always use manipulations or ethical persuasions? Mind you, Seth doesn't concern with the last question, but I thought it would be helpful to remind the believers about ethics as we read secular books like this.

In this book, Seth Godin (the first time I'm exposed to Seth is through his short book, The Dip), a marketing guru, shares the culmination of decades upon decades of marketing lessons and advice that he learned all over the world and mainly through his The Marketing Seminar. I would like to recommend listening to The Akimbo Podcast and watching his interviews with Marie Forleo and Chase Jarvis. I listened to the audiobook, not reading the book, so I get the main ideas but not in detail. And most of the lessons I learned probably not very applicable to my areas of calling and job descriptions. Although as a Bible Study teacher and Christian preacher, I am involving in 'marketing' the Gospel indirectly but here I must be careful not to mix the two. Of course, there are similarities but some principles and methods in marketing are just Biblical compromise and to a certain extend - wrong. Apply discernment, okay?

Back to the book. The audiobook is narrated by the author (7 hours 2 minutes, but I listened to it at 1.25x speed, so about 5.3 hours. I love listening to audiobooks when I'm walking outside and cleaning the house). Here are seven quotes that stick with me and from the interviews about the book (I Google these quotes, by the way, based on keywords that I remember):

 #1 "Marketers offer solutions, opportunities for humans to solve their problems and move forward";

 #2 "The most important lesson I can share about brand marketing is this: you definitely, certainly, and surely don’t have enough time and money to build a brand for everyone. You can’t. Don’t try. Be specific. Be very specific";

 #3 "We sell feelings, status, and connection, not tasks or stuff";

 #4 "The smallest viable market is the focus that, ironically and delightfully, leads to your growth" (my favorite is chapter 4: The Smallest Viable Market);

 #5 "Empathy is at the heart of marketing" (This is a BIG point!) For example, Seth also writes: "When we find the empathy to say 'I’m sorry, this isn’t for you – here’s the phone number of my competitor' then we also find the freedom to do work that matters";

 #6 The title for chapter nine: 'People Like Us Do Things Like This' is worth exploring;

 #7 "When you’re the cheapest, you’re not promising change. You’re promising the same, but cheaper... lowering your price doesn't make you more trusted – it actually does the opposite."

If I'm working directly as a marketer, I will surely buy the book because it has many good ideas that are very practical in the ever-changing (evolving?) landscape of marketing today. Consider it ⚡✌ #ServeToLead #LeadersAreReaders #GrowingLeaders #SethGodin #ThisIsMarketing #LetsMakeReadingCoolAgain
