Ugly Angel, handsome Devil

You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.” (Unknown)

Simon said she cannot sing...
It’s not his appearance that I’m looking for’, she proclaimed (I didn’t asked!), what most important is his heart.’ ‘Is it?’ was my only respond. With only basic education background and no psychology or philosophy degree, I got to share with you my thesis – We all at first do judge other by their appearance FIRST before their heart. When I said this to her, she didn’t agreed. She insists that appearance is not important. Well, what happen next was we end up eating dinner at McDonald; I used my greatest skill – change topic, when I sense that this conversation or rather argument will never end.

Does appearance matter?
Mr. Peter, I called him Rocky writes, ‘Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.’ (1 Peter 3:3-4

Appearance does matter, but make sure you’re looking at the right things. Your fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, clothes and face reflect only your outward shell, which is in a constant process of aging and decay (except jewelry, it may take a very long time to decay). The heart which is your soul and character reflect inner being, which is ageless and eternal.

If you’re a normal human being like me, surely you love to see the beauty of His creation. I heard someone said, ‘There’s nothing wrong with dressing smart to work, get the latest hair cut or go for facial treatment.’ I agreed but his statement is not complete. There’s nothing wrong with paying attention to your physical appearance, but not to neglect of your spiritual appearance. Remember, ‘People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ (1 Samuel 16:7) [The heart here according to e-sword refer to kar-dee'-ah that is, (figuratively) the thoughts or feelings (mind).]

In short-term based on my thesis, it’s easy to get distracted and focus on others or our own appearance because we judge FIRST by it. But in long-term, my friend got it right, what most important is the condition of the heart. You can have a tremendous impact on others when they hardly notice what’s on the outside because they see even more what’s on the inside – ‘the light of God’s love and truth shining through you. Walking with God causes you to reflect his beauty.’

  5. Answering mr.Anonymous.. Well, some Christians still do what other people do coz it's their own choice right? Personally, i've been in their shoe and it's really hard.. Living daily as a hypocrite.. Till one day, it slowly change.. It didn't come in a fortnight.. But gradual change as i desire to walk closer and know God's heart.. The love of God changes a man, not the thought of his close personal walk with God.. ;D
