“We are confident that [God] hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him”

“The Lord is close to all who call on him. Yes. To all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18)
If you read D.L. Moody’s books or any of his biographies, you’ll surely come across to his famous statement: “We are not told that Jesus ever taught His disciples how to preach; but He taught them how to pray. He wanted them to have power with God; then He knew they would have power with man”. It’s true, Jesus never taught us how to preach or how to organized Christian events – He taught us how to pray. Lord Jesus said, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find, keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, received. Everyone who seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8). I like how New Living Translation (NLT) translated it, “keep on…” This is how we should pray; it is not a onetime event but a continuous one. Keep on. Press on. Continue to pray. Day by day.
Friends, keep on praying to God. Lord Jesus promised to answer our prayers if we keep on asking, keep on seeking and keep on knocking. If what we pray for pleases the Lord and if we pray to Him in Spirit and in Truth – He will answer it. As we pray continuously and persistently – we will gain greater understanding of ourselves, our situations, our motivations and God’s nature and direction in our life. Therefore, keep on praying! Keep on asking, keep on seeking, and keep on knocking! Pray like a needing child to His loving Father. If our earthly parents who are not perfect will gives our basic needs as we asked for it, “how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11), right?
I believe God answers prayer,
Answer always, everywhere;
I may cast my anxious care,
Burdens I could never bear,
On the God who heareth prayer.
Never need my soul despair,
Since He bids me boldly dare,
To the secret place repair,
There to prove He answers prayer.
