Paul writes, “This means that
anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a
new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT). As a student of the Word, every time I encountered
this words “This means” or “Therefore” (in other translations) at the beginning of
a sentence I should ask myself – ‘Therefore’ in
relation to what? If you read Paul carefully, he said that we has
become a “new person” in relation to Christ’s death and resurrection
for us, and our identification with Christ by faith. All these makes
a “new person”
possible.
Now, as new persons in Christ,
we are changed! And will continue to change into the likeness of Christ. When we
become Christians, we change; we change from the inside outwardly. A Christian
has a change of heart, a change in relationship, a new lifestyle, a new allegiance,
a new royalty, a new reason for living, and a new purpose of life! Indeed, “The old life is
gone; a new life has begun!” A life that leads to God’s way – regardless
the hardship and narrow path that we will encounter along the journey – a life
that brings joy for us and pleasing to God.
THINK BIG.
START SMALL. GO DEEP.
