“The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” (1 Corinthians 6:13NIV)“The Lord has appointed the use of sex only for man-woman relationship in marriage.” (Richard Angelus)
Let’s see if you can identify with these statements;
“Prove that you are a man”; “prove your love”; “prove if you’re fertile”; “Sex will make our relationship better”; “if you really loved me, you would do it”; “Just this once…”; “If you do not have sex with me, I’ll find someone who will”; “Don’t worry, I will use condom”; “Something to remember”… etc. “Lovemaking is essential in my life. It makes me feel so much a woman,” said Miss G.R. (Sept 17, 1971, The Star newspaper) “… personally, I enjoy lovemaking only with the right man because he only will be able to satisfy me.”
Had you heard anyone or perhaps you partner (or maybe yourself) said those pick-up lines to tempt their partners (or yours) to have sex before marriage? Without apologize for offends that may come out as you read this (if any), I want to ask; what is your stand in the sex before marriage? Would you wait to enjoy sex with your partner in marriage?
There are heavy pressures especially for a young person like you and me to go into sex. Sex jokes circulate around your campus hostels, songs about ‘love’ bombarded into your sensitive ears, downloaded videos, movies and even advertisement programmes may displayed some ‘unharmful -soft-sex’ scenes – what a pressures! And here is a challenging part if you say ‘No’ to sex before marriage; you know what ‘they’ may call you? A religious fanatic! You don’t want that, don’t you? Or would you still stand firm and say, “I’ll say yes to sex only after marriage!” …May you choose the later.
Let me quotes Jean Garland at length;
“Sex can bring you more pain and heartache that you can imagine. It always does when sexual activity happen outside the place God made it to be fully enjoyed. God made sex for a loving, committed marriage relationship. Sex is powerful, intense force within us. It is the one area where we take a part in the creation of life. Sex is God’s fine art. We ought to feel uncomfortable about misusing God’s gift. Casual sex is like placing your best jewellery on the floor of the chicken house!”
For those who are on the brink of making decision ‘yes’ or ‘no’, for those who never thought about it up until now, for those who read my blog for the first time (Welcome) – here are my stand on this; “Making sex before marriage is a sin! And I will say NO to sex before marriage.” Are you on my side? Would you respect God and thus, respect yourself by having control over your own body?
Here are 10 reasons why you should say NO to sex before marriage by Jean Garland(Summaries mine);
1. Say ‘NO’ because God say NO to sex before and outside marriage.
“You shall not commit adultery.” (Exodus 20:14) However, moreover, He says YES to a loving, committed marriage relationship.
2. Say ‘NO’ because you will save yourself from the guilt, shame and sadness that sex outside or before marriage brings.
Chose to wait. Save you reputation! Do not allow you name to be passed around as a gossip of the year. Chose to wait.
3. Say ‘No’ because you will spare yourself the pain and grief of finding out that you were being used rather than being loved and accepted.
Love and sex is not the same thing. Love mean respect and care for each other.
4. Say ‘No’ because every time you have sex, young woman, you run the risk of conceiving a baby.
There is no pill or condom that is 100% effective to prevent conception… “No!” is the only foolproof way of avoiding a pregnancy… and just remember about your parent’s reputations, will ya?
5. Say ‘No’ because (girls), if you become pregnant, that eventually makes you a mother responsible to care for an illegitimate baby.
Most probably the father of your baby may run away… mere friends may leave you… abortion maybe on the top list.
6. Say ‘No’ because you will be able to choose to marry the special person God has planned for you.
No explanations needed.
7. Say ‘No’ because of the danger of catching a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).
It can cause you not to be able to have baby in later life, can cause severe illnesses and even lead to death, some can be ‘cured’ but leave scars and more open other dangerous viruses such as AIDS virus that cannot be cured.
8. Say ‘No’ because you will destroy your plans for the future.
Don’t left behind for what God lies ahead.
9. Say ‘No’ because you want to fully enjoys sex in a relationship of genuine love.
Genuine love is a committed love that stands through tough times… sex through genuine love can be fully enjoyed without guilt or fear.
10. Say ‘No’ because those of us who love you to say NO.
Your parents and family, your Church members, your wife/husband-to-be love you and except you to say NO. Even if no one else loves you, Jesus loves you, and died for you to give you the power to say NO. Pray and believe that ‘I can do everything through Christ who gives me the strength I need’ (Philippians 4:13)
I write this article after receiving news that some of my friend was pregnant before marriage. It hurt so much to hear the news especially you have the change to share and make the different about it… Readers, you who have an ear, let him/her hear; say ‘No’ to sex before marriage!
Share it!
[Maybe you have already had sex and you are not married. You feel dirty, betrayed and broken. Do you want to hear the Good News? If yes, maybe you want to share it with your trusted friend, counselor, Church leader, Christian staff worker or you can write to me at Motivates4life@hotmail.com.]

ReplyDeleteAll my friend had sex before marriage. Seriously its a small matter for them and for me SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST because in marriage & sex, it comes together. Let it be a special things to be remembered. Sound a bit " KUNO" but i believe in that coz it wont make me feel guilty for doing it when your parents trust you for not doing it before marriage.
