Successful People Read

Bring the winter coat I left in Troas with Carpus;
also the books and parchment notebooks

(Paul the Apostle wrote from prison, 2 Timothy 4:13
, The Message)

Can you imagine, Paul has been to heaven and back.
He wrote most of the New Testament.
He has seen the Lord, and yet he wants books

(Charles H. Spurgeon wrote about Paul the Apostle)

Some years ago, George and Alec Gallup set out to discover what makes some people more successful than others. Using the polling techniques that have made them famous, the brothers researched and wrote a book titled, The Great American Success Story.

One of their findings: Successful people read.
[The brothers here are referring to success in general term – by world’s definition. Here I would like to include that it is true also that successful Christians read. I believe that every matured Christians are readers (but readers are not necessary matured Christians). Therefore, in my definition, I called them ‘successful’]

George Gallup said he discovered that reading was essential because it “makes a person read to converse. It seems to be a key to feeling confident. These people have a broad knowledge and feel they can shift over to another field or chain of thought… I think reading would be a very big boost to self-esteem because then you have more information with which to make evaluations and decisions.”

Read, read, read! Use the Bible as home base, but vary your diet. I usually have several books going at once, tucked around here and there for easy access.” (Ruth Bell Graham); “We are what we read” (Anonymous); “Leaders are readers and readers are leaders” (Charles ‘Tremendous’ Jones).

God loves readers
He like people to read
This I personally believe
For He speaks mostly by His written words
For the Book – the Bible, is the proof He gives
Yes, successful people read
And also, behold! Successful Christians read
THINK BIG. START SMALL. GO DEEP.

    1. Dear sir, you have to make up your mind.
      Are you Christian or Muslim? Cause you sort of 'affirm' The Father and the Son;
      but continuously quoted the Al-Quran.

"affirm" The Father and the son?

      John 5:23:
That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

To make up my mind, To deny the prophet(the one who sent by God) is to deny God.
So therefore by honouring Jesus(the son), you honour the Father, because you believe in Jesus, which means you believe God sent him with his doctrine, and in doing so this honours the Father.

      John 5:24:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Notice what Jesus is saying, he is saying the person who believes what he is saying, which is basically the doctrine of God, and believe in the ONE THAT SENT HIM will have everlasting life, which is heaven and they shall not be sent to eternal condemnation which is hell.

      To make up your mind.....
You cannot honour Jesus by praying to him like you do with the Father, why?
because Jesus himself taught you to pray to the Father and not to himself.
      Matthew 6: 1-15

  2. it doesnt matter whether i am christians or muslims. please read, and read, and read. the truth is out there. it's just between you and God. please be sincere when you pray to God. Ask Him The Father, The Greater than ALL, to guide you. even Jesus told you that. How do you pray anyway?

How Did Prophets Pray According To The Bible and The Quran?

And he (Jesus) went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed…(MATTHEW 26:39)

And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship… (JOSHUA 5:14)

And he (Elijah) cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees. (1 KINGS 18:42)

And they (Moses and Aaron) fell upon their faces… (NUMBERS 20:6)

And Abraham fell on his face… (GENESIS 17:3)

And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground. (Nehemiah 8:6)

HOW MUSLIMS PRAY according to Quran??

O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good - that you may succeed.

    (Al-Quran, Surah Al-Haj Chapter 22 Verse 77)

"And keep up prayer...and bow down with those who bow down." (Quran 2:43)

IF YOU WANT TO PRAY TO ALLAH, I HOPE WHO ARE PRAYING IN THE SAME WAY AS PROPHETS PRAYED IN THE ABOVE PASSAGES IN BOTH BIBLE AND QURAN. Please be sincere. God bless You.

    1. What are you trying to prove sir?
I'm persuaded, whole-heartedly believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
      Nothing can changed that.

And you I suppose are hardcore Muslim which cannot be win by arguments
[Btw, in Al-Quran [which I also read] is not and never be called "The Father". You don't called God Father, are you for real? Adoi]

Therefore, I find that this holy books quotations (here and there) doesn't proof anything. It's a waste of time unless we both sit and talk about it.

You ask me to be sincere... dear sir, reveal yourself and be sincere :)

      my previous messages is that:

      1) it doesnt matter who am i .......

      2) please be sincere, means; please be sincere when you pray to God . . . .

      3) nothing to prove here, it's just the reminder . . . .

      #### I hope you understand the messages in the Bible, not just your assumptions from the Bible ####

    3. one more thing, yes according to quran, muslims don't called God Father. In the quran original language, God is called ALLAH. "clearly mentioned"

How about language did jesus spoke, What did they call God?
      The father? NO......
and the meaning of "son of God" ..........??

because what you read is "The multiple translation Gospel"
because muslims have to believe "Torah, Injil, and Quran"

Actually the bible support the quran, but i have to use the word "The Father" when comes to support your multiple translation bible.

if you want me to call God in both bible & quran

      our God is called:

      Eloh
      Elohim
      Ilaha
      ilahu
      Allahu
      Allahi
      allaha
      ALLAH............
...... it comes from the words alif (A), lam (L), Ha (H)

  4. I challenge you to proof to me these 2 things:

    1) Proof intellectually with historical evidences that Jesus' Resurrection is a hoax.

    2) Give me an outline of your theological argument about human salvation. About how the most holy and righteous God can pardon rebelious and sinful humanity. How to be sure of eternal salvation.

Give me your own researched and honest investigation - not cut and paste. No need to attached videos or someone's article. Just give me your own findings and testimonies.

Do this, and if I'm persuaded. I'll delete my blog for good and stop become Christian.

    Jesus is alive
He is the Son of God :)

    1. When proven wrong, the wise man will correct himself and the ignorant will keep arging.

However before i accept your friendly questions, please let me know what language did Jesus spoke, and explain to me what it really means by the "son of God" in Jesus original language.

I'm not proven wrong yet. Wise man must know if this virtual conversations edified or not - as far as I'm concern; NO. The ignorant is no worst that religous babblings. No end.

  6. According to Jesus, a person can obtain salvation by keeping the law & commandments. Same message as in Quran....

    matthew 19:16-17

Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments."

However according to Paul, a person can obtain salvation by nailing the law and commandments to the cross.

    colossians 2:14

having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.

In this case, i'm following the message of Jesus.

    Matthew 5:17-18

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

As you see, Jesus followed the law, HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CHANGE.

Im follower of Jesus, and following to what has been revealed to prophets before Him.

    Quran 2:136

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

Why do paul always contradicts his messages in the Bible?

    Quran 4:82

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah , they would have found within it much contradiction.

Att: i'm still waiting for your answer, regarding my previous question. Then i'll give you my findings about resurrection. This conversation is not about win or lose. It's about the truth.

  7. Since you 'love' the Bible so much. How about these verses:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He [a person] was with God in the beggining" (John 1:1-2, compare to Genesis 1)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16)

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6)

How are going to interpret it now?

    As for Matthew 19 that you quoted above;
The man called Jesus 'good' due to his respect for Jesus. Maybe thinking that he was one of the great teacher. And Jesus said "Only God is good". Thus, Jesus as if saying, "Only God is good, so, if you say I'm good, then I'm God!" [When people called Him Lord, Messiah, Son of David, and even God in the case of Thomas the apostle, He never once said, "I'm not what you think I am" but in fact, he accepted it!]

Even before He died, Herod and Pilate and the High Priest asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"; "Are you the Messiah?" He said: "You said that I am", he never denied it.

    As for Matthew 5,
It is self-proof. Who can fulfilled all the laws? Who can fulfilled all the prophecies? Only God! Men are not able to do so. Only God.

Read the Bible in context and as a whole. It was written, especially the gospels, as stories. Not verse by verse like Al-Quran. It is transparent, even the men of God were recorded doing something sinful in the Bible, it doesn't hide it (Al-Quran is selective). The manuscripts are very closed to the original scrolls (studies how each Holy Books come to being).

Please don't quote the Bible here and there.
You might dry down the context of the texts.
It is disrespectful, and not being true to your call to be sincere.

If it about truth, then for me, personally - the CHRISTIAN FAITH is THE TRUTH and I don't imposed it to you. I tell you, you don't have to believe it but think and pray about it. You tell me, I read and think about it, but don't force me to believe it.

Be a creature of reason and have feelings. Think. Love. Will.
Come let us close this discussion here, okay sir? :)
