My Mom's Legacy: The Enduring Power of Her Influence (Happy Mother's Day!)

And Happy Mother's Day to my wife too!

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child” (Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty)

Dear mother, Kuin anak Ladom,

Since your love is so special and so real, I want to take a moment to tell you how I feel.

You’re the best sister in the family. In the past, you had to let go of your own future to take care of your younger brothers and sisters. You’re the best daughter—worthy of a place in the Malaysia Book of Records. You obeyed your parents and feared them just a little less than you fear God (Though some people may not agree, isn’t my opinion the one that matters most to you?)

You’re the best wife any man could ever want. Like the woman described in the last chapter of the Book of Proverbs (31:13–27, NCV), you are indeed “far more precious than jewels.” “She likes to work with her hands” is the perfect description of your philosophy in getting things done. Because of your living example, I have no problem washing my own clothes and doing the dishes after every meal. You “get up while it is still dark and prepare food” for your family. When I was a kid, you would disturb my peaceful sleep and wake me up with your signature motherhood attitude. (Yes, even with your pink apron around your neck and a kitchen ‘tool’ in your right hand—you ruled, Mom!)

Though you didn’t literally “burn your lamp late into the night,” you showed your superhuman ability to wake up early and sleep late.

Though you didn’t literally “make thread with your hands and weave your own cloth,” you were great with that old-school sewing machine.

Though you didn’t literally “make linen clothes and sell them, and provide belts to the merchants,” if that culture had existed in our country, I know you would’ve done it!

Most of the time, you “speak wise words,” and since verbal communication isn’t your strongest suit, your actions amazingly “teach others to be kind.” And last but not least, if I could interview angels to testify about you, they would probably say: “She watches over her family and never wastes her time.”

You are the best mother in the universe. What today’s children call ‘abuse,’ you called discipline. What today’s generation calls ‘spoiling,’ you called love. What today’s parents see as ‘troublesome,’ you gladly accepted as responsibility. You didn’t just feed us with rice and breast milk—you fed us with love, obedience, faith, and integrity. The best things a mother can teach a child are the ABCs and how to pray. And you taught us – me and brother – both.

I thank God for giving me you as my mother. Our Father in heaven never makes mistakes—He chose the right mother for a troublemaker like me (and for my brother too). If some parts of this letter have errors, exaggerations, or too much praise, forgive me. But this much remains true: There is no mother who could give love as true as yours, and there is no son who could love you more than I do.

Happy Mother’s Day!

On behalf of me, Richard and brother Warren

Angelus' Quote: Motherhood Has Made Me Grow and Change Faster

"Men want to improve only the world," says Harriet Freezer, "but mothers want to improve their whole family. That's a much harder task." How true! One such woman is Vella Mathiews. She's an entrepreneur, trainer & consultant at Smart Tycoon Group (STG), a wife and👫 a mother to four children👩‍👧‍👧

Even in her busy schedules she always squeezed in some family time on the calendar. When she went for a few days of traveling, after came back she spent time with her children. On challenge and joy of being a mother, she explains, "Nothing, I mean nothing, has made me grow and change faster than motherhood. Last week's lesson has been PATIENT 💆‍♀️ because nothing makes you reach the end of yours faster than a toddler."

She continues, "While I think it's natural and normal to lose ur temper on occasion, it's not the sort of a mother I want to be. I'd like to be calm and measured in the face of adversity. I want to be in the present, supportive and engaged. Ever ready to teach, to learn and generally cultivate an enchanted environment for my kids and family." Improvement and continuous learning are what makes a GOOD mother. "It's all that I do on my best days and I'm learning to do on my off days, too," Vella continues.

Add that with godliness and that's what makes a mother GREAT 👸 It was said: "One godly mother is worth a hundred clergy." I believe that behind every great man there is a great woman (and it is not his wife) It is his mother. No woman has the influence, the opportunity, the privilege or the reward of a mother 😉 #ServeToLead #GrowingLeader

Mother's Day Special: 4 Lessons I Learned about Motherhood from Mary (Short Bible Study)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! Share this video and let it be known that MOTHERS ARE SPECIAL IN OUR LIVES.

4 Lessons about Motherhood from Mary, the Mother of Jesus, that I Learned from the Gospel of Luke

#1 Mothers are Afraid but They Do It Anyway (see Luke 1:29-30). "Birth takes a woman's deepest fear about herself and shows her that she is stronger than them."

#2 Mothers can Be Use by the Lord no Matter Who They Are (see Luke 1:34). John MacArthur, author, and Bible teacher writes, "Mother by no means second class. Men may have authority in the home, but the women have the influence. The mother, more than the father, is the one who moulds and shapes those little lives from day one."

#3 Mothers are Always Available to Serve and to Love (see Luke 1:38). Charles Stanley reflects about mothers, "Motherhood is a great honour and privilege, yet it is also synonymous with servanthood. Every day women are called upon to selflessly meet the needs of their families... moms continuously put others before themselves."

#4 Blessed are Mothers Who Believe in God and His Word (see Luke 1:45). Pope Francis once declares: "The Gospel shows us the truest reason for Mary's greatness and her blessedness: It is faith."

Happy Mother's Day! May all the world call you blessed

Introducing, My First Lady!

Jesus honored his mother, Mary, at all times. He respects his mother when he was young. When he was around 30 years old and actively involved in public ministry, Jesus didn’t allow himself to be pressured by his mother and her demands (see Matthew 12:25-27) – yet he clearly loved and honored her. Even when he was hanged on the cross with real pain he gave attention to her needs, entrusting her to the care of John, his faithful disciple (see John 19:25-27). Thus, as a grown man and woman, you too can honor your mother without allowing her to restrict your work or your movements. Mother is our first lady, she is to be honored.

The Scripture clearly says, “’Honor your father and mother’. This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, ‘things will go well for you, and you will have long life on the earth’” (Ephesians 6:2-3, NLT).

our first lady. We still try our
best to honor her.
As for now, let us only focus on mother (though we must acknowledge that Scripture above says ‘and’ not ‘father or mother’ - both). Whether she is a believer or not is irrelevant here. If we want things to go well for us and have a long life on earth, obey God’s Word and honor our mother. Only “foolish children despite their mother” (Proverbs 15:20) – friends, I want to be wise! You too, right?

If you’re still living at home and under her care, honor your mother by obeying her always as long as it doesn’t violate God’s Word. If you’re still living with her even when you’re not under her care anymore or if you already married and she is weak and dependent with old age, you must honor her all the more. Even if there is little to respect in her character and attitude, you must show due respect to your mother just because she is your mother.

Friends, mother is our first lady, she is to be honored.
Jesus Himself exemplified it. The Bible testified it. God our loving Father confirmed it!

Mother's Day: Mothers and Sons

Mother and Child by Le Thi Luu

Thomas Edison’s tribute to his mother:
“I did not have my mother long, but she cast over me a good influence that lasted all my life. The good effects of her early training I can never lose. If it had not been for her appreciation and her faith in me at a critical time in my experience, I would never likely have become an inventor. I was always a careless boy, and with a mother of different mental caliber, I would have turned out badly. But her firmness, her sweetness, her goodness were potent powers to keep me on the right path. My mother was the making of me. The memory of her will always be a blessing to me.”
(Source: I don’t remember.)

Richard Angelus’s greeting to his mother:
M is for her Marvelous care toward me and my brother;
O is Only her patience can sustain our rebellious;
T is for the Tears she shed during her hardest moments;
H is for her Heart that is pure as gold;
E is for Enjoying her responsibilities with delight;
R is for Richly bless us with love and disciplines.
Therefore, MOTHER to me is ALL of the above. Happy Mother’s Day mom! Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mothers-act-to-be we cherish your labor and grateful for your presence in our lives! Thank you.

Mother's Day: Letter from a Son to His Mother

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. (Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty)
 Instant availability without continuous presence is probably the best role a mother can play. (Lotte Bailyn, The Woman in America)
 Dear mother,

Mother, since your love is so special and so real, I want to take a moment to tell you how I feel. You’re the best sister in the family. In the past, you had to let go of your future to take care of your schooling brothers and sisters. You’re the best daughter on the list of Malaysia Book of Records. You obeyed your parents and fear them a little less than you fear God. (Though some people may not agree but isn’t my opinion is most valuable to you?)

            You’re the best wife any man could ever want. Like the woman in the last chapter of the Book of Proverbs (31:13-27NCV), you’re indeed a wife that is ‘far more precious than jewels. ‘Likes to work with her hands are the best description of your philosophy in getting things done. By your living example; I have no problem washing my own clothes and wash dishes after every meal. You ‘get up while it is still dark (early morning) and prepare food’ for your family. When I was a kid, you would disturb my peaceful sleep and woke me up with your motherhood attitude. (Yes, even with your pink apron around your neck and kitchen ‘tool’ on your right-hand side – you rule mom!)

Though you didn’t literally ‘burns [her lamp] late into the night’ but you had shown your superhuman ability to wake up early and sleep late at night.

Though you didn’t literally ‘makes thread with her hands and weaves her own cloth’ but you were good with those old school sewing machine.

Though you didn’t literally ‘makes linen clothes and sell them and provide belts to the merchants’ if there were such culture ever exist in our nation, I know you will do it!

Most of the time you ‘speak wise words’ and since you're not very good with verbal communication, amazingly your deeds ‘teaches others to be kind’. And lastly but not least, if I can interview angels to testified about you, they probably will say, She ‘watches over her family and never wastes her time.’

You’re the best mother in the universe. What today’s children called ‘abuse’, back then you called it discipline. What today’s generation called it ‘spoiled’, back then you called it love. What today’s parent called it ‘troublesome’, you gladly called it responsibility. Not only do you feed us with rice and breast milk, but you also feed us with love, obedience, faith, and integrity. The best things a mother can teach a child are ABC and prayer – you did it both. [Ps: If you had prayed for handsome children when he grows up, your prayers had been answered.]

I thank God for you to be my mother. Jesus never makes a mistake; the right mother for a troublemaker like me (and brother too). Err… if some of my writing has some errors, not accurate, or overly praise, forgive me. Above all, this remains true: there is no other mother that could give love so true, and there is not a son who could love you as I do.

 Happy Mother’s Day!
(And to all mothers around the world, this letter is for you.)
There is no such thing as a non-working mother. (Hester Mundis, Powermom)
