In campuses, there are many kinds of people. In the Christian fellowships itself; some are interested in knowledge and logic (like me). Some are more towards feeling and charismatic atmospheres. Some are more in doing practical stuffs. Some are more go-with-the-flow; some a bit slow; and only few are radical in their faith. Some are more rely on proofs and facts. Some loves to argue and debate. Some have build-in senses for spirituality. Some are doubtful and some are easily convinced. These are mixed crowd that I always deal with almost everyday. These are the people in whom I share and proclaim the One Gospel, about the One God and One Savior and Lord – who died for the sin of the world. These are precious people in whom Jesus Christ redeemed for on the cross of mercy and grace. Though you and I are difference in character, personality etc. we have both the same Message of Salvation. Therefore, because of these differences, if we can’t reached out to all – by all means save some!
Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892), a preacher, writer and soul-winner, my long dead hero of faith, wrote something very encouraging for me to stay firm in the Gospel of Christ as a young Christian worker in student ministry. Before I went to work, I read lengthy-quote from C.H. Spurgeon this morning. As I remember students in campuses in my prayer, I felt as if the Lord Himself was speaking to me through it – indeed, He was. Spurgeon writes,
“There is a door to each man’s heart, and we have to find it, and enter it with the right key, which is to be found somewhere or other in the Word of God. All men are not to be reached in the same way, or by the same arguments, and as we are by all means to save some, we must be wise to win souls, wise with wisdom from above.
We desire to see them conquered for Christ, but no warrior uses always the same strategy. There is for one open assault, another siege, for a third an ambush, for a fourth a long campaign. On the sea, there are great rams that run down the enemy, torpedoes under water, gunboats, and steam frigates. One ship is broken up by a single blow; another needs a broadside; a third must have a shot between wind and water; a fourth must be driven on shore.
Even thus, must we adapt ourselves and use the sacred force entrusted to us with grave consideration and solemn judgment, looking ever to the Lord for guidance and for power. All the real power is in the Lord’s hands, and we must put ourselves fully at the disposal of the divine Worker that He may work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure, so shall we by all means save some.”
