Is Your Name written in Heaven?

Everyone has a name. Names are important. All of us appreciate those who know our names and call us by our names. “Richard”. Oh, what a lovely name that is.

Just an imaginative picture okay
Question, does God know your name? The Bible, God’s very Word, tells us that God has a book of names called the Book of Life. The Bible also tells us that persons whose names are not in the Book of Life will be separated from God forever (Revelation 20:15). If our names were not written in that book, one day Jesus, the King of Heaven, will say to us, “I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws” (Matthew 7:23NLT). The good news, however, is that the Bible says we can know either our names are written in the Book of Life or not. How?

In the Bible, John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life”. God loves each person and He loves you. He loves you so much that He sent His only Son into the world. That Son is Jesus. For what purpose did God send His Son to earth? Jesus came to die for our sins and then rise to life so that those whose names had been written in the Book of Life before the beginning of the world, His elects – can come to Him in this way – by believing in Jesus. If you really believe in Him by grace through faith, your name was truly had been written in the Book of Life! [I believe in sovereign election (or predestination)].

If you believe, you will not perish but have eternal life. Believing in Jesus involves being convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit, repenting by turning away from sin, and placing your faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord. God forgives you when you place your faith in Him. Oh yes! You will have eternal life and your name is written in the Book of Life. The Bible says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved” (Joel 2:32) and “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:13). You can call on the name of the Lord Jesus now. And when you do it by faith in Jesus alone – under the grace of God – indeed, surely, your name is in the Book of Life! Therefore, rejoice!
